Job Description
The Web Designer will rely on extensive experience in working with the latest web trends to drive the overall business objectives online. The qualified candidate will have a deep, highly creative interactive portfolio of work spanning many industries and verticals.
This role is highly collaborative in nature. Creation and innovation through user experience and design are primary responsibilities. Working with designers, developers, product managers and leadership will be integral to the position. Through these interactions, the Web Designer will be expected to communicate design strategy and demonstrate the thought and direction behind the designs.
All designs conceptualized and produced will be extremely professional in finish and quality. An ability to interpret information architecture and understand its influence on the visual design process is a must. Every design and the markup produced to implement it must be based on a understanding of XHTML and CSS. Further, candidates demonstrating Agile methodology and JavaScript experience will receive additional consideration..
Responsibilities
* Responsible for interactive designs from conception to production. You will take briefs, develop and execute concepts, refine direction, and build comps
* As well as being hands on you’ll be responsible for a team of 2 designers.
* Generate innovative concepts in consideration of wire frames and business requirements
* Create Photoshop comps and final art deliverables
* Further the user experience toward a cohesive, unified vision through our Bestofmedia networks , and through hands-on design, having a critical eye toward developing a consistent product
* Interface with key internal stakeholders to ensure the user experience reflects customer needs
* Translate business requirements into design concepts and see projects through to completion, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, consistency and efficiency
* Develop and maintain UI, graphic design, and interaction specifications/guidelines
* Adapt creative styles as needed while maintaining creative, technical, and brand standards throughout the site
* Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products/experiences and bring new ideas to the team.
* Manage creative projects effectively while maintaining priorities, deadlines and deliverables
* Deep understanding of web design and the strengths and limitations of web technologies: HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, Flash, Ajax, Flex, and other emerging platforms
* Strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, images, and interactivity impact design
Requirements:
* Vast & Successful experience of web design is a must.
* Innovative Visual designer
* Thorough understanding of graphic design, page layout and typography
* Prior experience supporting visible web site on large-scale, interactive sites
* Passion for the User interaction, design and creative problem solving
* Comprehensive understanding of current web technologies such as CSS, Ajax, etc. and ability to design within their constraints
* Strong understanding of information design and architecture
* Independent worker who can take direction and generate comps with minimal supervision
* Proven aptitude for quick, sharp creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding timeframes
* Can work in a fast-paced environment, quickly and efficiently
* Comfortable working in team environment. Will interact with other departments including engineering, product, project management, etc.
* Illustration skills for icons and buttons.
* Knowledge of user-centered design principles, web design best practices, branding, positioning, and marketing
